Xbox 360 sales have skyrocketed to a 214% increase over the last two weeks in the UK, largely thanks to Microsoft’s sizable price cut.
According to ChartTrack, this means that the 360 outsold the PlayStation 3 by a two-to-one margin during that time period. Following the price cut on September 19th, Xbox 360s now start at £129.99 (US$234) in the UK.
The vice president of Interactive Entertainment Business at Microsoft EMEA Chris Lewis added additional context to the number. In a statement, he claimed that 360's trend of growth was repeated over broader Europe as well. “This data shows that the Xbox 360 trajectory continues upwards, and not just in the UK,” he explains. “We’ve seen uplift in all countries in Europe and are confident that even at this rate of growth we can keep retail satisfied with a steady supply of consoles throughout the Christmas season.”
Lewis cited the console’s outsized marketing campaign and expanding library of content as further evidence that the 360 could maintain this trend of growth throughout the holiday season.
Xbox 360 has the largest library of high-quality games in every genre. Now that the price has dropped, the Xbox 360 is the game system gamers of all ages want most all over the world.
