Microsoft: 360 Breaks 6M in Europe
The Xbox 360's European install base has broken 6 million units, Microsoft said on Monday.
Total worldwide console sales are currently around 20 million units.
"We’re supporting this momentum by putting launch-level investment into a European advertising campaign, launching this week, which shows how Xbox 360 is changing the way consumers experience entertainment," said Chris Lewis, Microsoft VP of Interactive Entertainment Business, EMEA.
Microsoft recently cut the price of Xbox 360 in Europe, bringing the low-end Arcade unit down to £129.99. The 60GB Xbox 360 currently retails for £169.99, while 120GB Elite sells for £229.99. The company recently cut prices in the U.S. as well, boosting week-on-week sales.
Microsoft argues that a lower price, a revamped Xbox Live and mass market titles like Lips, Scene It? You're in the Movies and Fable 2 have "set the stage for a record-breaking holiday season" in Europe and abroad.
Here are the facts, that can be argued by no one at all, at anytime:
(1) - the 360 has the best video game library available today, in EVERY GENRE, hands down. And with more titles like "Fable 2" and "Star Ocean 4: The Last Hope" on the way, you'd have to be brain dead not to want one.
(2) - 6 millions sales can DEFINITELY be built upon with with the latest price cut, making the arcade model cheaper then the Wii and the Elite model cheaper then a PS3. At these low, rock-bottom prices, every Xbox 360 must go. They're passing the savings on to us, the consumer, which is a great thing and is why we should all support Microsoft and buy an Xbox 360
(3) - With the revamping of Xbox Live now, it's now the GREATEST online community there EVER was and EVER will be. It's so amazing, even people that don't own a 360 are signing up. It's just that good. That will only increase with this latest price cut so you should buy a 360 to be part of it.
(4) - With the cheaper price and mass market titles like "Lips," and "Scene It? You're in the Movies ," this will now outsell the Wii 280:1 in EVERY market in the whole wide world for the next 13 years. NO one can argue that.
(5) - 6 million sales in Europe alone is amazing and proves the Xbox is the BEST console ever. All other console makers should just give up and never try making a console again, and no one else should try and start making consoles, because the Xbox 360 will NEVER be beat.
If Microsoft can keep this price point going, they'll soon put Sony and Nintendo out of business. Then they'll buy all of Europe and EVERYONE will have an Xbox 360 and that will end war and famine, all thanks to Xbox.

they're still paying $41 more than people in the US and Canada for the arcade model. I would feel a little ripped off if I were them. It should be £22 cheaper. Making it £107.99.
It's been said before that $199.99 is the magic number where people feel like it's a reasonable amount of money to spend on a consumer electronic. I guess that magic number is £129.99 in Britain.
Although they would probably sell extremely well if they could get the price of the Arcade down to £99.99
Meh Wii's at 10 million and PS3's at 5.5 million, frankly it's embarrassing that it's taken them this long to get to 6 million considering their 12 month head start.
