Very successful AAA games studio based in Newcastle, a leading developer, publisher, and marketer of interactive entertainment software, are looking for a Senior Game Designer to join their team.
£25 - 30,000 on Experience + Benefits and Package The studios videogames are available for play on all major videogame platforms including the Playstation3 computer entertainment system, Xbox360 video game system from Microsoft, Nintendo Wii, and Nintendo DS. The studio is legendary in the industry with early breakthrough titles including Defender and Spy Hunter. More recent blockbuster titles include NBA Ballers, Blitz: The League and the Mortal Kombat series.
Reports to the Lead Designer and Creative Director
Role overview:The main responsibilities will be designing, documenting and producing specifications for game systems, user interface, mechanics and other content
Functional responsibilities:
• Creation of game rules and systems that facilitate progressive gameplay dynamics
• Participation in the development of gameplay prototypes
• Communication with other team members regarding ideas, features and systems
• Implementation and revision of gameplay via iterative design process
• Development of game design documentation for associated systems, environments and characters
• Collaboration in defining creative vision and technical specification for games
Skills required:
• Be able to take a feature and drive it to completion
• Strong documentation skills
• Robust knowledge of past, current and upcoming story/action games
• Experience with game systems design (on shipped titles)
Skills desired:• Experience with scripting languages
Education and experience: • Must have at least 2 years of industry experience
• Must have at least one shipped (preferably 2) title on current consoles (PS3/ Xbox 360)
Person specification: • Must work well in a team environment
• Must be self motivated
• Must have a passion for creating and playing video games
• Must have good communication skills, both verbal and written
• Must have a passion for learning new technology
