• Create real-time special effects for a PS3 and Xbox 360 racing game.
• Work closely with art and design leads as well as with graphics developers and audio lead to deliver first class effects.
• Research effects technologies and approaches in close collaboration with the development dept.
• Help to set up and maintain the global tools and workflows related to special effects.
Requirements: • An excellent understanding of what makes special effects work.
• Expert-level skills for particle systems, post processing effects and shaders (specular and normal maps), plus at least basic skills in 3d graphics.
• Solid understanding of rigid body collision, soft body, cloth, hair, etc. simulations.
• Previous experience creating special effects that enhance the game experience.
• Understanding of game engines, tools, pipelines and development processes.
• At least 3 years production experience with special effects, post-production, and problem solving.
• Quality awareness for the requirements of new-gen games; drive to raise the bar regarding effects.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to handle and prioritise multiple tasks, meet deadlines and excel.
• Good communication skills across multiple disciplines.
